1973
The Founding
Tom Crow, an Australian amateur golfer, moved to Kearney Mesa, CA to start COBRA Golf. Crow was an Australian Amateur Champion and won over 20 club championships, including at Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath, and Royal Sydney.
Crow set out to make great clubs at a fair price and claimed that while product and Tour presence was essential to success, it's the people that really make the difference.
1975
A New Club Category
The Baffler hybrid, a laminated wood with 23° of loft, introduced a new category of clubs to golf. It featured a patented sole plate design that allowed the club to glide through the turf effortlessly and drew inspiration from catamarans skimming across the Pacific Ocean.
Move to Sorrento Valley
COBRA quickly doubled its warehouse footprint moving to a 6,000 SF location in the Sorrento Valley. The new facility allowed COBRA to produce irons and woods under one roof.

The Shark
Greg Norman signs with COBRA Golf after buying 12% of the company for $2 Million. Norman helps build COBRA's first line of forged iron: The Norman Signature CB and MB Forged Irons.

COBRA launches the first set of oversized irons which quickly became the performance standard and the #1 selling iron in golf.

Product Expansion
The most extensive line of new COBRA products up to this point is introduced, featuring the new KING COBRA Oversize II Irons and TI Offset Woods.

COBRA Makes Moves
COBRA Golf moves to its current location in Carlsbad, CA.

KING COBRA SS Drivers are the top-selling drivers for the year, featuring a 430cc head that allowed golfers to hit drivers further with more forgiveness than ever before.

Baffler Utilities
COBRA Golf expands one of the hottest-selling utility metal lines in the industry with the addition of three new models to its line of KING COBRA Baffler Utility Metals. The patent-pending design that promotes the high launch, forgiveness, and distance of a fairway metal with the playability and control of an iron quickly became the #1 selling line of utility metals.

COBRA Reinvests In Tour
COBRA Golf announces Tour sponsorships of Geoff Ogilvy, Ian Poulter, J.B. Holmes, Camilo Villegas, Kevin Na and LPGA Tour Player Jeong Jang.

Ogilvy Wins the U.S. Open at Winged Foot
Ogilvy Wins the 2006 U.S. Open at Winged Foot using the COBRA X Speed Driver and KING COBRA Pro MB Irons.

PUMA Acquires COBRA
Sports lifestyle company PUMA agrees to acquire 100% of COBRA Golf from Acushnet Company. COBRA PUMA Golf is born.
Tour Takes Off

KING LTD Driver
COBRA works in partnership with Center for Advancement of Science in Space to conduct research aboard the International Space Station to build a one-of-a-kind driver.
2016
Smart Clubs
COBRA announces the release of the first connected golf club featuring an Arccos sensor embedded in the grip, allowing players to easily track their ball striking through advanced digital technology.
2017
ONE Length
COBRA launches the first full sets of single length irons. All built to 7-iron length to create a more consistent and repeatable contact with every club.
2019
KING F9 Speedback
COBRA athletes win 4 times using the KING F9 SPEEDBACK Driver within the first four months of its release. The Driver remains a cult classic amongst avid golf enthusiasts.

Gary Woodland Signs With COBRA
2019 U.S. Open Champion Gary Woodland signs with COBRA Golf to become a full COBRA PUMA Golf athlete.
